Quick Trip to Ohio

I flew to Ohio for five days (two of them travel days) to be with my mom for her 70th birthday.  It was a lot of fun.  Ate all the food we don't have out here like shredded chicken sandwiches, filled doughnut sticks, Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans...  We also ate at The Cheesecake Factory for her birthday dinner.  Yeah, my Weight Watcher points went out the window, but I'm back on track now.

It was COLD -- but not too much below freezing at least.  School was delayed one day and cancelled the other school day, probably due to ice.  Was glad to get back to the 70 and 80 degree weather we've been having here.

I went five days without a Starbucks... must be some kinda record.  The nearest Starbucks to my mom is about 30 miles away I think.  When I spied this sign in the Houston airport, it was like a light shone down from heaven once again.

Signed Ally up for college dorm room at GCU today.  Can't believe she will be there in the fall!  Nooooooo!

We are planning to meet up with my relatives in Phoenix in March for baseball spring training.  I'm getting ready to buy tickets for four games including the Indians, Cubs, White Sox, and Padres.  Fun!

I Fall to Pieces...

New Year, New Problems.  We have been dealing with heater and car issues for the last couple weeks.  The engine and traction lights in my car have been on, even after supposedly being fixed by replacing all the sparkplugs.  Of course, we have tried to take it back in to the auto repair shop, but the lights went off right before we were to take it in.  They are back on now, so we will try again in the morning.  On top of all that, I was feeling really ill on Friday, so when I went to start the car to go home and the warning lights were back on, I lost it.  I drove to Walgreens and drowned my sorrows in a bottle of Peptobismol.  Musta worked -- I felt fine the next day!

We did enjoy the holidays with friends visiting for a few of the days.  Saw Lamb's Players perform, got massages, rode around in a limo... very fun.  Ally and I played games half the night on New Year's and we got our favorite Deli Club Sub from Antonelli's!

We have been having a heat wave... it's been in the 80's for a couple weeks.  Hope it's no indication that it's going to be 150 degrees out this summer.

It does get cool at nights though... the cats were finding ways to keep warm at night while our heater was out.

This is what I found staring up at me one night when putting groceries in the car.  Amy graduates from cosmetology school in February.  Don't know what will happen to "Rhonda" then!

Chris and I celebrated 27 years together on December 30.  We ate our annual steak dinner at Ruth's Chris!

Sooo goooood!
