Friends are the Family We Choose

My bestie -- we can harp to each other, tell secrets, laugh our heads off, cry together, and just plain be stupid.

Got to spend time with friends up near Los Angeles this week. Got in some shopping, eating, and went to the Padre game at Dodger Stadium, which the Padres won 10 - 5. Woo hoo! Had me my first Dodger Dog!

Don't forget the foam finger!

Kiwi is here for a week. God love her little tiny furry body!

Had a couple more aftershocks this week. I guess they will never end. Next weekend is my 45th! I know what I am getting... so excited!

This I Believe...

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes...

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I scrapbooked some of the photos this weekend from the Good Friday art exhibit at church. The Cross Project displayed art entries along with short personal essays of what the cross means to each artist. I was going to blog about my activities this weekend, but I looked at all the crosses again, I couldn't help but focus on the hope we have, because of that empty cross. He lives, and so can we! This is what I believe, and I won't be ashamed of it.

Mom's the Word!

Had a great Mother's Day. Went to church, had a family photo taken, then went out to eat at BJ's restaurant. Had a fun time. Ally gave me this framed 8 x 10 photo of herself. Really nice. Amy gave me free haircuts for life... lol. She starts school for 15 months at the California Hair Design Academy beginning tonight.

The van is costing upwards of $4,000 for repairs. Thank God for insurance which also rented us a car for a few weeks. It's a PT Cruiser. Ally loves it -- it's okay, the main things I don't like are the tiny front windshield and the lack of cruise control and electronic seats, mirrors, etc. But it will do, and it's kinda fun for awhile I guess.

Ally, Bree, and I went to the Mother's Tea at church on Saturday. Had a good time.

Finally got my baseboards and walls painted. We are putting a new handrail around the corner and up the stairs, but are going to have to knock a hole in the upstairs bedroom wall after bringing the rail in through the window. It's nice working for a general contractor, ain't so?

Jesus, Take the Wheel!

Well, He must've on this one.

A truck with a trailer pulled off the shoulder onto the freeway right on top of Amy while she was driving our Honda Odyssey. He scraped the whole side and took off the mirror. Then drove off... nice! Amy tried to brake, but couldn't in time and couldn't move to the next lane because there was another car there. She pulled off to the shoulder, but no witnesses stopped either, and she decided it wasn't a good idea to sit there with cars whizzing by, so she got off the freeway and called me crying. I left work, and we got everything taken care of. She didn't hit any other cars, and there were no injuries, so for that we are thankful. The car is in the shop, and our insurance rented us a PT Cruiser in the meantime. Ally loves the PT. I thought I would, but the front window is very small, and it lacks some of the nice things I'm used to having in the Civic. Like cruise control, electronic mirrors, electronic seats... and so on. I guess we've moved up in the world when our own cars are better than the rentals... I remember back in the day I would've been happy to drive anything newer than 10 years old!

Looking forward to going out for Mother's Day. Haven't been too good in keeping up the old blog -- thinking I'll post less and maybe that will encourage more often?!
